She has started her long career first at Middle East Technical University as research assistant, and has kicked-off her HR tenure in Banking by joining T.İş Bank as a junior training officer. After seven years of experience in the design and conducting of several modules and programs in technical banking areas and recruitment activities, she has been offered her first mid-level management position by Interbank which was at the time at the brink of a massive cultural change program and ready to introduce a very customer centric business approach to Banking in Turkey.

She has helped restructure the human resources and training functions in the Bank, hiring her own team and implementing several HR change initiatives.
Joining Garanti Bank in 1988, she has served as EVP for strategic support (HR, training, organisation and system development, social services functions). During her 12 years at Garanti Bank, she has been actively involved in numerous change projects and has collaborated with several consutancy firms whose efforts has helped pave the way for the Bank to achieve her current status as the best Bank in Turkey. One of the outstanding achievements of the era has been Harvard Business School case about the Bank's high level performance in the transformation process and the massive re-structuring efforts.

In 2000, with the objective of deploying best practices in human resources and training, she has been promoted to head Humanitas, a shared services company of the Doğuş Group, as CEO until August 2003. Leading a group of professionals numbering between 50 to 124 Humanitas has served The Group's financial, retail, automative companies and its media enterprises employing 23.000 people, as well as serving other companies outside of the Group. Humanitas has been instrumental in initiating several organizational change programs and has carried out all the recruitment activities, HR architecture design and implementation, development and training functions, the design and implementation of Doğuş leadership development program and has been awarded with "the best e-learning company of the year" in 2003 by the magazine Capital.

After the Humanitas experience, she has set up her own company; Unida in October 2003 in partnership with Zeynep Berberoğlu, a long time associate.

During her career at the Group she has served on the boards of Tansaş, Macrocenter and GÖSAŞ as well as the executive board of the Group.

She is a member of TED Ankara College and Turkish AFS Associations and serves on the board of BÜVAK-the Trusteeship Association of Boğaziçi University.



ZEYNEP BERBEROĞLU

A graduate of the Middle East Technical University-Faculty of Administrative Sciences, she has majored in public administration. She has started her long tenure in banking at T. İş Bank Training Department and continued her career at Interbank which she has joined in 1986 as senior training specialist and later at Garanti Bank as assistant manager where she has been promoted to Training Center Manager position.

During her Garanti years (1990-1997) she has been heavily involved with the restructuring of the training function; approaching it as a key strategic enabler for the transformation the organization was committed to pursue . It was also during this period that the Bank; in a highly visionary attempt has started to work closely with Bank of America consultants to develop a brand new approach to course, trainer and material development and create a company culture that valued training as a valuable tool to realize excellent performance.

The major achievements of this period can be summarized as the launching of certification programs in technical banking areas, deployment of change management training programs for all employees and management development initiatives to help support the intense transformation process. The training function in a revolutionary attempt was embracing a change agent role rather than acting within the boundaries of a supportive administrative role.

Zeynep Berberoglu; later in her career had the opportunity to become a member of the four major project manager team to lead the "Re-Engineering Project". She has worked closely with IBM Consultancy during this highly challenging and rewarding initiative which has resulted in the re-design of most of the Bank processes.

Upon the completion of the project she continued to gain valuable expertise in the re-engineering area through additional project management involvement in other Group companies such as Tansaş-the National retail chain and Garanti Leasing for two more years .

She joined Humanitas as Executive Vive President in charge of Organizational Development and Selection and Placement function, managing between 15 to 30 employees after a brief seconding as the Head of the Human Resources Department at Macrocenter -another national chain owned by the Group. In Humanitas under her leadership over 2000 employees were recruited to manpower the Group companies for 3 consecutive years as well as carrying out several organizational development projects for group and non-group companies.

Zeynep Berberoğlu has set up Unida, an HR and Training Services Company in partnership with Saide Kuzeyli with whom she has been working since 1983 in October of 2003.

She is a certified career coach and an assessor.

She is a member of The METU Alumni Club and has served as a mentor in Nar Taneleri project.
